In PSL2, Darren Sammy took the responsibilities of a captain and played the key role in winning the trophy. Sammy was the first choice for Zalmi as he was the captain of West Indies squad, which won the 2016 World T20 championship.

Afridi’s performance was relatively impressive during PSL2, as he scored 177 crucial runs by playing 10 matches. He stood at the fifth place among highest scorers of the Zalmi. However, he failed to do magic with the ball and sent only two players to the pavilion.

When asked about the separation from Zalmi, Afridi exclaimed his unavailability due to some personal reasons. He shared a tweet in this context.

“Won the trophy with one team, time for another. I am announcing my end of service as president and player of Peshawar Zalmi team due to personal reasons”.

Shahid Afridi sent his best wishes to the Peshawar Zalmi. He also reiterated the fact that his fans will stick to him no matter whether I play or not. The bonding between Boom Boom Afridi and his fans is so strong that they will follow his every step.
