During the late eighties, Pakistan Television (PTV) aired a long play called 'Ragon Main Andhera', which was a police drama and the first of its kind to be shown on PTV. Written by Younus Javed and directed by Rashid Dar, the drama became so popular that eventually the PTV authorities decided to make a drama serial based on the same plot, making a few changes in the cast members.
Thus, 'Andhera Ujala' came to the fore and took the name of its writer Younus Javed to new heights. The drama created immortal characters like SHO Jaffar Hussain (played by late Jamil Fakhri) and Direct Havaldar (played by seasoned actor Irfan Khoosat). With its witty dialogues and realistic depiction of police life, the drama created history for PTV.
After 'Andhera Ujala', Younus Javed wrote a completely different drama serial by the name of 'Patt Jharr'. This drama serial was directed by Rashid Dar as well and became a success after being combined with some fine performances by renowned actors like Farooq Zameer, Nauman Ijaz and Saba Hameed.
