Television in Pakistan has seen countless performers and actors since its inception almost five decades ago. While many of the actors and performers it produced in these years did go on to make big showbiz careers - hence staying alive in people's minds even after such a long time - there have also been some artists whose memorable performances remained limited to just a handful of TV shows that they were a part of.
Such is the case of Abid Butt as well. His name might not seem the most familiar to the audiences today, but it was once upon a commonly heard name. Being an integral cast member of the popular Pakistan Television drama serial 'Andhera Ujala', which was eagerly awaited for by the television audiences during the late eighties and early nineties.
Starting off as a long play, the police drama was very well received by the viewers both at home and abroad due to the performances of Abid Butt and his costars Irfan Khoosat, Jameel Fakhri and Rahat Kazmi. As a result, a drama serial was produced based on the plot of the long play, with the only difference that Rahat Kazmi was replaced by Qavi Khan for the series.
Abid Butt is married to noted television actress Nighat Butt who has acted in drama serials such as 'Waris' and 'Aashiyana'.
