With comedy being one of the genres where Pakistan has capitalized by producing remarkable comedians, it does not come as a surprise that people from all linguistic backgrounds have given their contribution to comedy. Among the most notable and senior comedy artists in Pakistan, Aftab Alam has been very prominent with his unique comedic instinct.
Belonging to Hyderabad, Pakistan, Aftab moved to Karachi after finishing his college education. In Karachi, a friend of his offered him a role in Memoni language stage dramas soon after which, he did stage plays in Urdu as well. His most famous Urdu stage role to date has been in the stage play 'Bakra Qiston Pe', a drama that got immense popularity and appreciation from the audiences even to this day.
Following his establishment as a stage artist, Aftab started getting numerous roles for TV dramas. He made his television debut in the drama 'Choti Si Duniya'. Although the drama itself might not be remembered by people today, Aftab's character of 'Janoo German' has remained unforgettable all these years.
Another television play in which he played a very prominent role was the famous PTV drama serial 'Ba Adab, Ba Mulahiza, Hoshiyar', playing a courtier in the king's court.
In recent years, Aftab has focused mainly on his business and distanced himself from showbiz.
