Since the time television was established in Pakistan, there has always been a notion that only the bigger cities like Karachi and Lahore produce high quality dramas both in terms of production and performances. However, there have been some exceptional dramas from the smaller cities where Pakistan Television (PTV) had its station. One such drama was 'Dhuwan', produced by PTV Quetta Center.
With the drama's concept, screenplay and direction being done by Aashir Azeem, not many people had a clue of who this new entrant was. However, once they saw him acting simultaneously with all the behind the camera work, they realized that Aashir had actually given to them the masterpiece of a lifetime in the form of the drama serial he created.
Being a police drama, 'Dhuwan' was PTV's first and most mature attempt at producing action dramas. The fact that the drama itself, as well as its characters, were immortalized through the unique plot and storyline has been a remarkable achievement for Aashir, who was a civil servant at that time.
Taking a hiatus from TV altogether after the success of 'Dhuwan', Aashir recently showed his skills in the writing and direction of the Mother's Day telefilm 'Muhafiz', produced by Geo TV.
