Ever since the mid nineties, the concept of comedy programming underwent a sort of transition in Pakistan. Whereas earlier the dramas were made in the form of serials with a continuing storyline (Aangan Terha for example), the newer form of dramas were situations comedies or sitcoms. In these comedy dramas, the characters would remain the same but the situation in each drama would be different and the characters were shown countering it some way or the other.
The pioneer in sitcoms in Pakistan was the drama 'Family Front', which aired on the then PTV World (renamed to PTV Global). Since the TV viewers at that time were more used to to the family oriented dramas, the producers while introducing a new format still kept the family element intact.
Among the characters who added life to the hit comedy drama, the character of Bobby was perhaps the most famous and well liked. With his own characteristic style of humor and getup, Bobby's jokes soon started getting emulated by the general public. Played by a new comer Shahzad Naseem, the character is still very much alive in the memories of the sitcom's fan.
In real life, Shahzad is married to Nadia Afgan, another TV comedy actress. He also presented a mystery show based on real life incidents titled 'Kyun'.
