There has never been a dearth of good comedians in Pakistan and with the presence of comedy greats like Umer Sharif and Moin Akhtar, every budding comedian got the chance to learn the art of comedy to perfection. Rauf Lala is one such artist who has worked with both of these comedy stalwarts for an extensive period of time and it is something that reflects from his work as well.
Rauf began his career as a stage artist in Karachi in the year 1978. The first big show in which he performed was 'Susraal Bara Janjaal' in the year 1982, in which he performed alongside Umer Sharif and Javed Sheikh.
His most famous stage plays are 'Bakra Qiston Pe' and 'Buddha Ghar Pe Hai', both of whom have two comedy greats of Pakistan working alongside Rauf.
He has also starred in a number of television plays like 'Jeena Tau Yehi Hai' (ARY Digital). While he has done a few movies locally, Rauf also got a break in Bollywood after winning the Indian show 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge' in the year 2006.
