Pakistan Television (PTV) deserves the credit for being the launching pad for many artists working in plays that were in regional languages and giving them a chance to perform in the mainstream Urdu dramas. Gulab Chandio is also one of those actors who got his major breakthrough on PTV as a Sindhi actor. However, in the years to come, he proved his mettle and soon landed roles in Urdu dramas as well.
One of his earlier performances was in the PTV drama 'Noori Jam Tamachi', based on the popular Sindhi folk tale by the same name. Later on, he performed in another PTV Urdu drama serial called 'Zeher Baad'. In 2001, he was cast in the PTV play 'Sachaiyyan'. Ironically, his Sindhi accent always saw him typecast in roles portraying a Sindhi feudal or villager.
His most famous performance to date has been 'Chand Girhan', in which he played a Sindhi feudal as well. Other notable performances by him were seen in several dramas including 'Jo Na Mil Sakay' (PTV Home), 'Suraj Girhan' (Hum TV) and 'Yaadein' among many others.
