Ata-ul-Haq Qasmi's name has been synonymous to the precious memories that people associate with the golden days of television during the eighties and early nineties. His dramas were always a symbolic representation of family life and carried his unique sense of humor.
One of his most famous dramas, 'Khwaja And Son' is still remembered for its true to life depiction of the middle class family setup in Lahore. The drama became immensely popular due to its sublime humor and the creation of differebt characters that are still etched in people's minds. Moreover, it showed a classic portrayal of father-son relationship between Khwaja, played by Ali Ejaz and his son Jawad, played by Aurangzeb.
His other drama 'Shab Daig' launched the career of Ayaz Naek as an actor and also gained appreciation from the audiences. 'Sheeda Tilli' is also among his popular plays shown on PTV.
For the past five decades almost, Ata-ul-Haq Qasmi has been a noted columnist contributing to different Urdu dailies. He has also been a published travelogue writer.
For his contributions to Pakistani media as well as literature, the government of Pakistan awarded him the Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz.
