Drama direction is no less than an art itself and is often considered to be a thankless job because if the drama is a success, most of the credit goes to the actors on screen or to the writer who penned the script. However, if it is not for the people behind the camera, no drama can become a success on its own. In recent times, many new directors have surfaced in the Pakistani television drama industry, among which the director duo comprising Muhammad Usman and Zulfiqar Ali have been quite prominent.
Zulfiqar Ali, in collaboration with his co-director Muhammad Usman, has brought forward a number of memorable plays which have gained appreciation from the viewers and critics alike. Most of their plays have been for Pakistan Television (PTV), which also helped their dramas in attracting a wider and more diverse audience.
One of their earliest directed dramas was the family comedy play 'Aashiyana', which used to aired from the former channel STN during the mid nineties. Another one of their collaboration was 'Chunri', which was simultaneously produced by Zulfiqar. They also directed the drama 'Bulandi'.
Their recent plays include the youth based drama 'December' and 'Dil Se Dil Tak', which is being aired from PTV currently.
