Shaukat Zainul Abideen is one of the most senior and veteran TV producers and directors who got his start on TV through Pakistan Television (PTV). One of his earliest dramas as a director and drama creator was 'Merat ul Aroos', which was based on classic novel by legendary author Deputy Nazir Ahmed by the same name. The drama was appreciated by the audiences so much that it is remembered to this day and even its remake is being aired these days by the name of 'Asghari Akbari' (Hum TV).

Besides dramas, he was also involved in the production of various music videos for PTV, especially those which were made for special events. Among his most popular music video was of the song 'Ruh-i-Arzi Adam Ka Istabaal Karti Hai' sung by the band Jupiters, which was an underground band at the time. The song was not only appreciated for its quality but also for the fact that Shaukat had chosen the poetic work of legendary poet Allama Mohammad Iqbal.

He also directed the PTV drama 'Alao', written by Asghar Nadeem Syed. In recent years, he has directed the drama serial 'Muthi Bhar Aasman', which aired on ARY Digital. He also taught drama direction at the National College of Arts.
