The Khoosat family has contributed a great deal to the entertainment industry of Pakistan. Starting right from the famous radio artist Sultan Khoosat, the art passed on to his son and popular actor Irfan Khoosat, and from him to the next generation, Sarmad Sultan Khoosat and Kanwal Khoosat. Indeed there cannot be many families who can boast of three generations who have been dedicated to the field of entertainment, acting and drama direction.
Although Sarmad got a lot of exposure due to his stints as an actor, Kanwal has not been seen on screen. This is because she found her niche in drama direction and has since been devoted to her job behind the camera. Even though she does not have a lot of experience yet but through the diversity of projects that she has worked on, Kanwal has proven her versatility as a director.
She proved herself as an able director in the drama serial 'Mujhe Apna Naam-o-Nishan Milay' (Geo TV), which was based on a number of serious social issues. The drama was a huge success but Kanwal did not let herself be confined to one genre only and directed the sitcom 'Cheekoo, Papa Aur Woh' (Hum TV). These days she is bus directing a drama for Pakistan Television (PTV) called 'Aao Kahani Buntay Hain', which is made like a theatrical performance.
