Reciting naat or hamd has always been considered an art in itself by many as it requires a person to feel the spiritual presence of the poetry inside him or herself and transfer it to his or her audiences through the vocal medium. Pakistan has been fortunate to produce a number of talented people who have been experts in reciting naat, hamd and other spiritual poetic works. Credit to promote these people also goes to Pakistan Television (PTV) which introduced some of the leading naat readers to the audiences.
Samina Kamal is also a naat reader who started her career as a professional naat reader from PTV. Such was the magic of her voice that the PTV authorities made her a compulsory part of special religious transmissions during Rabi-ul-Awwal or Ramadan. Samina established herself as a well known naat reader before she made a move to other areas of television.
In recent years, Samina has been seen acting in the drama serial 'Roza Ke Rozay', which aired on Hum TV. Incidentally, the drama also dealt with the spiritual awakening that a girl hailing from a different culture goes through.
