Zafar Mairaj has been one of the most popular dramatists and writers of the recent times, whose name has now become synonymous to the success of every drama it is attached with. Zafar has mainly remained an Urdu writer although he has written literary pieces in Brahvi and Balochi as well. To date, he has written more than 50 dramas for PTV and the private channels.
Zafar got his breakthrough as a TV playwright in the year 1991 when his drama 'Amar Bail' was chosen to be shot and produced by Pakistan Television. Very young at that time, the breakthrough meant the world to Zafar who had just started working as a journalist. After his success as a playwright, he took up drama writing more seriously.
After the launch of private channels, Zafar got an immense opportunity to showcase his skills as a playwright as private channels did not put as many restrictions on the storyline as a normal PTV production did. His popular plays include 'Meri Kahaniyan' (Hum TV), long play 'Wafa Baloch Ki Bewafai' (Hum TV), 'Baba Ke Des Main' (Geo TV), 'Wardi' (PTV), 'Ishq Ki Inteha' (Geo TV), 'Mehman' (ARY Digital), 'Mann Se Poocho' (TV One) and 'Mulaqat' (Hum TV).
