Aliya Imam has been one of those unconventional celebrities whose showbiz career started behind the camera. Born and bred in Islamabad, Aliya made her debut as a director when she directed a drama serial by the name of 'Saza'. Following the success of her directorial debut, Aliya's next venture was another drama serial called 'Ek Tasveer Auri.
Although direction was her primary focus, Aliya soon found herself on the other side of the camera mostly as a comedienne. Not only did her unique dialogue delivery and sense of humor managed to earn her good reviews but they also encouraged her to make her onscreen presence more frequent. Her popular sitcoms include Salma Aur Sitaray, Boom Boom and Mera Ghar No.1.
In recent times, Aliya's soap titled 'Sirf Ek Baar' also garnered immense popularity among critics as well as the public. Up until recently, she was playing a central role in the ARY Digital comedy show called 'Banno Teray Abba Ki Oonchi Haveli' in which she stars alongside Shakeel Siddiqui. The program was one of its own kind as it combined elements of both drama as well as a typical talk show and Aliya's performance was appreciated throughout the time the show was aired.
Aliya's love for showbiz was so deep that it also ended up inspiring her younger sister Sadia Imam to enter into showbiz. In 2004, Aliya also appeared in Fakhre Alam's music video 'De De Dil'. Her performance got deeply appreciated in the drama 'Thoda Sa Aasman'. Reportedly, this comedic actress is also planning to start her own talk show on Saturday mornings and planning is underway for that.
