The name of Syed Ameer Imam was always synonymous to quality comedy drama productions. Starting his career as a director in Pakistan Television (PTV), he also went on to head PTV stations in four cities. Among the earliest comedy plays he produced 'Intizar Farmaiyye' and 'Hello Hello' were the most prominent ones.

In the year 1996, he left PTV and ventured into private productions, producing one of the most popular and long running comedy plays of all time 'Such Much', which starred late Moin Akhtar playing the role of Seth Manzoor Danawala. In later years, Ameer Imam was also accredited with being among the founding members of Geo TV and remained associated with the channel till he breathed his last.

His famous dramas in the recent years include 'Subah Ho Gayi Mamoo', 'Gharana Fasana' and a remake of the drama 'Such Much' for Geo TV. He passed away in Karachi on March 2, 2011.
