Kashif started his career in the year 1993 when go his first major break in 'Zaroorat', a play penned by veteran playwright Munno Bhai. Since it was his first play and he was only a youngster at the time, Kashif's presence did not get registered in the audience's mind with his first performance onscreen. It was the play 'Ashiana' in which Kashif not only acted as one of the major leads but also produced the lively drama serial. Also written by Munno Bhai, the play went to become a major success during the mid nineties as it had all the elements of a successful play, right from a good storyline to a stellar performance by the cast.
His character Saif got so famous after the drama serial that his fans actually started calling him by his onscreen alter ego. His next powerful performance came in a serious role in the drama serial 'Boota From Toba Tek Singh'. The role Kashif played in this drama was in complete contrast to the one he had played in 'Ashiana' but his performance was appreciated by everyone.
He gave another powerful performance in the drama 'Moorat' (aired from ARY Digital), directed by Humayun Saeed, in which he played the role of a transvestite. Other notable plays in which he has acted include 'Inkar' (PTV), 'Landa Bazar' (PTV), 'Mehndi Walay Haath' (Geo TV), 'Maasi Aur Malika' (Geo TV) and 'Khandan' (ARY Digital).
