Although it’s great news for Pakistanis, it also baffles a lot of people how could a girl from Pakistan achieve so much in life when other girls in the country are lacking behind in every field as compared to their global contemporaries. Here is what Dr. Mavalvala had to say about her success, contributing it to how she was grown up here in Pakistan.

“I grew up in a family where the stereotypical gender roles were not really observed, So I grew up thinking women can, must and should do anything and everything. That is very important for me.”

“My parents are not scientists and don’t necessarily fully follow the things I work on. But they have always been supportive. They always felt ‘if this is what she wants to do, let’s get out of the way and let her go with it’ — that’s a powerful situation to grow up in.”

Dr Mavalvala brings hope to Pakistani women. It gives them the message that success has nothing to do with origin, nationality and resources but it has to do with your will, desire and ambitions. Even if you grow up as a women in a minority in Pakistan, you can still be an achiever.
