The short film Lala Begum of Marina Khan won the award for best screenplay at the 6th Annual Washington DC South Asian Film Festival.
With anticipation and exhilaration, we are lucky to share the news of Pakistani cinema making us proud once again. One of the renowned actors in this film that made this possible is Marina Khan. The story of this film is about the relation of the estranged two sisters. One of them is Marina Khan aka Meher in the film. The other is Sonia Rehman Qureshi aka Seher. The cast also includes Humayun Saeed.
It’s merely based on 1970’s theme where these two sisters haven’t spoken to each other over two decades. Meher begrudges Seher her disregard of the family’s wishes and marrying Ahmed, a man outside the family. The story continues as these two sisters meet after decades when Seher returns to claim her share of the family estate. This happens after her husband dies; a squabble that caused nothing but a devastating sense of isolation.
