Fakhar Zaman Replaces Corey Anderson for Somerset In T20 Blast

Fakhar Zaman is to replace Corey Anderson who is to undergo an injury due to stress fracture playing for Somerset.

Matt Maynard; Somerset’s director of cricket spoke about Corey’s injury:

“During his time here Corey has soldiered on bravely and managed his ongoing stress fracture well. But now it needs immediate treatment.”

This will be Fakhar Zaman’s first time playing for an English team. Somerset has officially signed Fakhar as the overseas player. Matt Maynard; Somerset’s director of cricket wholeheartedly welcomed Fakhar Zaman and quoted:

“It’s great to have Fakhar joining us. In addition, we will have Dean Elgar back for the final three T20 Blast group stage games. However, Dean has to return to South Africa for a camp prior to the South Africa v Bangladesh series. As a result, he will play no further County Championship cricket for us.”

Fakhar Zaman is left-handed Pakistani Batsman who has contributed in 4 ODIs and 3 twenty-twenty. He is also titled as the “Player of the Match” award due to his tremendous performance. It was also owing to the century against India in Champions Trophy 2017 Finals.

Before joining the national squad, Fakhar Zaman played cricket for Navy for 7 years. On his incredible performance against India in the finals, Naval Chief Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah applauded his efforts. He also mentioned that the Pakistan Navy is proud of him. Moreover, the Admiral invited ICC Champions Trophy 2017 squad over for official dinner.

Naval Chief Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah also awarded medals to the team and appreciated the efforts of PCB. He also encouraged coaches as well as the players in coordinating with each other and bringing home the trophy.  Mr. Zakaullah also mentioned that not just Navy but the entire nation is proud of Pakistan cricket team. The Admiral also said that they are always in support of the team.
