Doraha - It ended where it started from!

Been aired back in 2008, Doraha is a wonderful piece of script with a splendid execution. This drama is still cherished by the viewers who followed it and have also won Lux Style Awards in 2008. The drama is still available of Vidpk.

Just like her other write-ups, Doraha too dragged a huge audience towards the magnificent words written by Umera Ahmed. Adding more charm to the venture, the drama was directed by Mehreen Jabbar. The 14 episodes package is a story about how influences can help breaking strong bond of love and marriage.

The drama enjoyed a rich cast including some veteran actors like Humayun Saeed, Sanam Baloch, Sonia Rehman, Adnan Siddiqui, Badar Khalil and Qazi Wajid. The script basically highlights the impact of class difference and the marriages that are done without keeping in view the fact that it is certainly difficult to accept people who do not share some class as they do.

The story revolves around three characters, Omer, Shehla and Sara. Shehla belongs to a prosperous family while Omer's life is all full of depressions that are one of the major ingredients of a middle-class family. Despite of poor economic conditions, Omar survives to complete his education and falls in love with Sara, who was his classmate. Shehla, being Omer's cousin and neighbor, loves Omer since an early age and tries impressing his family by cooking food for them. Sara, knowing how tough life would be with him, finally decides to marry Omar but suffered really bad in the hands of her mother-in-law (Badar Khalil) who wanted Shehla to be her son's wife. Sara tries adjusting in the new house, trying hard to keep her in-laws happy but never succeeds. The family atmosphere remains tensed and the final blow is given to it by Shehla who keeps poisoning the family about Sara and her way of leading life. Omar gives Sara divorce and soon marries Shehla. On the other hand, Sara to remarry to Azfar (Adnan Siddiqui), a mentally upset man and suspects his wife for disloyalty.

Shehla, however, couldn't prove her what she portrayed to be, initially and it is only then when Omar's mother realizes how great Sara has been to them. Beaten badly by her husband, Sara is in hospital when Omar meets him incidentally and informs Sara's parents about Sara’s condition. The two of the broken hearted people finally get rid of their spouses and remarry to each other again to start their lives from a fresh node.

All in all, it was a good effort which will always be remembered in good words. You can always watch this drama again on
