PTV was the only source of entertainment 15 years back when there were no or very few local entertainment channels in Pakistan. This period can be considered a golden time before the decline of the national channel where we saw talented actors emerging on screen including Humayun Saeed, Aijazz Aslam, Faisal Qureshi and other names of this group. One of such powerful projects was drama serial Chandni Raatein which went on air on PTV in 2002.
Been written by Seema Ghazal, the drama was directed by Muhammad Javed Fazil. The production was done by Afreen Baig and the cast of the drama included some veteran actors of all time like Javed Sheikh, Mahnoor Baloch, Amna Haq, Humayun Saeed, Badar Khalil and Faryal Gohar. Its OST was sung by Ali Haidar and the beats still amuse the music lovers.
The drama revolves around the family of Bee Jaan who rules her house completely. Having two sons who are absolutely obedient to her, she is the one who takes major decisions of their lives. Her elder son Aamir is married to Abginey but despite of leading a happy married life for 8 years, the couple was still deprived of the happiness of children. Bee Jaan forces Aamir to marry Maha and following her orders, he do so. Maha is a real brat and was previous married too. She gives a hard time to Bee Jaan while Abginey's reputation is at stake.
The story takes a u-turn when Abginey's family returns from London to see her and finds that Aamir is married to Maha. Meanwhile, Aamir's younger brother Asim falls in love with Zarmeenay, younger sister of Abginey.
Bee Jaan is against his will but after going through many ups and downs in their relations, they land up together, fixing other issues of the family too. Bee Jaan too realizes how wonderful Abginey has had been as a daughter-in-law.
