Look at the ambiance created to bring in an air of intimacy btw the 2. Look how Deepti dresses up for him! Look how close they both sit on the couch in the apartment or on the bench in a public park and talk in an unreserved manner. Isn’t it unnatural, at least for a man to resist a woman for so long who’s always been there for him? That’s quite unnatural… Any way, UA in spite of all this disagreement, I am fond of reading ur books and watching ur plays. IQRA786 " |

I also disagreed with the time period of them being just friends for so long, but sometimes when one is such good friends with someone, it becomes difficult to change that into love or admit that there may be other feelings. Just my two bits. :) " |

Umera Ahmed wrote: >>>>> My Next Projects Qaid-e-tanhai is starting this Friday on Hum TV. It has been directed by Babr Javed. Geo will be airing Uraan from Nov 6. Uraan is my first serial with Yasir Nawaz. Both these scripts are original and not adaptations. I have not planned any project with Mehreen for next year. We have a few ideas but right now we are struggling with our schedules. Don't know if we are able to make adjustments to our schedules or not. >>>>> My Books The sequel to PK, Abe Hayat will be out in December inshAllah. Ferozsons is publishing it. Daam will come out sometime early next year. Most probably in Feb-March. The English translations of Laahasil and PK are also coming out in Dec. These are being published by Ferozsons as well. >>>>> Scriptwriting I do plan to quit scriptwriting in a few years. Or will be cutting down on the amount of work that I am doing presently. Probably one serial a year'.or every two years. Scriptwriting is fun and very challenging but it is monotonous and tedious at the some time. I also feel that it will eventually affect the quality of my creative writing. So scriptwriting is going to go off my platter sooner or later. I also want to work on some meaty subjects in my upcoming books and it is difficult to manage it alongside scriptwriting. >>>>> All My Novels Have Tragic Endings'??? These are my top ten novels. Five of them ended tragically, five happily. Isn't it a balanced ratio? Pir-e-Kamil Iman Umeed Mohabbat Hasil Shehr-e-Zaat Zindgi Gulzar Hai Amar Bail MOS MZZB Laahasil Darbar-e-Dil Now my question is'. Why do you hold the tragic ones more dear to you than the happy ones? >>>>> My Official Page or Website I don't have either. I am planning to start one soon. I have no plans to adapt PK for a serial. I do want to do a movie or two before quitting scriptwriting for good but it won't be a masala movie/typical commercial flick with a lot of song and dance routines. There are a few options that I am weighing these days. Let's see. Despite being the producer of our serials Humayun has never asked or forced us to cast him. We cast him if we find him suitable for the role. Sometimes we force him to do a guest appearance when no other option is available....as was the case in Daam. " |

Umera Ahmed wrote: >>>>> Happy Ending! As said earlier every story can't be ended happily because it will kill the purpose of writing that story. I believe in giving justified endings. And I gave Daam a justified ending. Readers and viewers have always had heated debates on the endings of my books and plays. I appreciate that but I cannot give FAKE and POINTLESS endings to my stories. That would be a grave dishonesty on my part as a writer.I am not a writer who is driven and guided by polls and surveys or public pressure. Trust me I can withstand immense pressure and ferocious criticism to remain true to my work. Writers need to be powerful enough to resist pressure and temptation to give a story a happy ending on popular demand. Nothing can be more destructive for the creativity of a creative artist than this trend. Creative arts need a certain amount of freedom to flourish and blossom. I made Zahra make a graceful exit from Junaid's life. I can't glorify someone who turns out to be as selfish and mean to others in their hard times as others have been to her. Pardon me but I simply can't. Why should Zahra be bothered whether Junaid had a happy marriage with Fizza or not? And why should she accept his proposal when she knew that Junaid has a baggage which will burden both of them eventually. Getting married to a divorced man with a child is not a cup of tea'..no matter how madly you both are in love with each other. Courtship is a fairytale and fairytales run for a very short period of time. Then life comes in with its hard hitting realities. And Zahra must have evaluated all this before making this final decision. Mehreen has not shot Zahra's ten years outside the country and her relationship with Hassan therefore you don't know the importance which Hasan held in her life. Junaid was her first love and her first heartbreak and she had a quilt in ditching him that's what had been barring her from committing to Hasan. Why did Junaid suffer? He seems to suffer presently but men get over these things quite easily. They get second chances. And third. And fourth. Why do you think he will never fall in love again? How many men never fall in love again after their first breakup? Unfortunately'.NONE. I know you are laughing now'.:)) but yes, this is life and life goes on. " |

Part1 Umera Ahmed wrote: All stories don't end the way we want them to end...if they did...the art of story telling would die as many other arts in Pakistan already have. The only thing that kept all of you glued to Daam for 18 weeks was our daring effort to show you an ORIGINAL drama. We may fall. We may falter. But we are committed to one thing and one thing only.WE WILL HAVE OUR OWN BRAND, OUR OWN MARK...something that we can all sit together and enjoy with our families...something that people of this region once called.... Pakistani Drama! I thank all of you for making this play a success and for yourfeedback....your ferocious criticism all included:):):)....all valuable. I also thank Mehreen Jabbar, 7th Sky and the cast of Daam for their splendid work. Ready to take your questions now. Post them one by one and keep them brief. Thank you. --------------------------------------------- I am writing this note to address all those or most of the questions/issues which the members of this page have posted/raised. Your response has practically taken me by surprise as I was not expecting to get showered with so many questions. Initially I was all at sea like Mehreen and the other members of the cast when I visited this page Friday night. My usb was not working well and there was an unending influx of questions/comments/suggestions. It took me many hours yesterday to go through all the posts on this wall'and I am not through yet. Writing a comprehensive note on 'Daam' seemed to be a better idea than answering you individually which I had planned earlier. I will try addressing as many questions as I could manage easily. The rest will be taken care of in the coming days. >>>>> Thank You! First of all thank you very much for making 'Daam' a huge success. Your interest and response has humbled us to the core. I am happy we are able to live up to your expectations once again'..although it was not easy this time. Your generous appreciation, your incisive points of view, your in-depth analyses of the story and the characters and your conflicting opinions have all been a source of inspiration and motivation for us to work better next time. We once again convey our heartfelt gratitude to you for your outstanding involvement all the way. Daam is a multi-layered story dealing with multiple issues. It is deceptively simple in the way it draws your attention to the issues raised. Daam is based on friendship. That's its primary focuss but that is not what it is all about. Daam also tries to focuss your attention on how blood relations are failing us today. It also tries to show you the class divide and the way it affects our social behaviour subconsciously. And Daam also tries to explore a very complex relationship'.the sister-brother bonding. How a sister finds it hard to take a back seat in the life of her beloved brother. But what I never intended was to make Daam another romantic story of an Amir Larka and a Gharib Larki and how their true love blossoms and how fate plays a part to reunite them or otherwise. In an adaptation a lot of things do not come across as they are portrayed in the book. This is one problem which we face while doing the adaptation of a book. The tele adaptation of Daam is slightly different from the original novel that will come out early next year. There are some changes which have been made to the screenplay. Some characters and parts have been cut out due to the limited budget and tough shooting schedule. Screenplays rarely give a comprehensive version of the book. The novel always does that. Daam, the novel, will clarify a lot of things which have been troubling you. A lot of answers which you have been searching for. And some more indepth analysis of the actions and the motives for those actions and reactions. " |

Its ironic Junaid's parents were so comforting, understanding, accepting they had no issues with Zara's family background, and living condition, but somebody who u trusted and looked up to so much ended up betraying trust, faith, and belief on friendship. The ppl u think r u best well wishers, and least expect to hurt u are the ones that hurt u the most. Zara loved Junaid because of Maleeha, because she always sopke so highly of her brother, how could u forget what ur best friend did to u and start acting normal again. She didnt marry Junaid cause again she proved a point to Maleeha that u were my friend, and I would break ur "ghar" to make mine. " |

Umera Ahmad seems to be deep depression patient and people who like this ending are also depression patients. Such a BAD ENDING of this drama. > Junaid left Fiza. > Maleeha left her home. > Zara's sister will be feeling guilty whole life because Zara told her everything about money issue. > Zara refused to marry Junaid. > Junaid left alone. No one is happy, no solution for anyone.....Worst Ending!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " |
