President appoints Noman Bashir as Naval Chief

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has appointed Vice Admiral Noman Bashir as the new Naval Chief.

The outgoing chief of naval staff Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir has retired after completing three years as naval chief.

The Defence Ministry had sent a summary to the president recommending the names of Vice Admiral Asif Humayan and Vice Admiral Noman Bashir for the position. Admiral Noman belongs to Naval Aviation. He was serving as Commander Karachi and has earlier served as Commander Aviation.

According to Geo News reports, newly appointed Admiral Noman Bashir is the brother of present Secretary Foreign Affairs Salman Bashir.
